Brief History:

Founded in 2022 in Troy, Michigan, the company initially operated in stealth mode as the “Re:Car” project within Re:Build Manufacturing. It aims to disrupt the market by offering an affordable, radically simple, and highly customizable electric vehicle. Slate Auto publicly debuted its first vehicle, the modular Slate Truck, in 2025, with production anticipated to start in late 2026 at a reindustrialized factory in Indiana.
