FORGET THE WAIT: 600kW is Redefining the European EV Charging Standard.

IONITY Introduces HYC1000 600KW chargers in Europe

new IONITY/Alpitronic HYC1000 dispenser (they are taller and slimmer than the older units) with a bold headline overlay: "300 KM IN 8 MINUTES.
IONITY is Europe’s leading high-power charging (HPC) network, specifically engineered to make long-distance electric travel as seamless as traditional refueling. Founded in 2017, it operates as a joint venture between major automotive giants—including BMW Group, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and the Volkswagen Group—alongside financial investor BlackRock.

The network spans 24 European countries, primarily strategically positioned along major motorways. As of early 2025, IONITY operates over 700 charging stations with more than 5,000 high-power points. Its infrastructure is “future-proof,” utilizing the European CCS standard and offering charging capacities of up to 350 kW—and recently up to 400 kW—allowing compatible vehicles to reach an 80% charge in under 20 minutes.

A core pillar of IONITY is sustainability; 100% of its electricity is sourced from renewable energy, ensuring carbon-neutral journeys. With an ambitious roadmap to reach 1,000 locations by 2027,

Now, IONITY continues to expand into metropolitan areas and integrate next-generation “megawatt” chargers to support the evolving needs of the e-mobility sector.

EV charging just hit a “double milestone” that is changing the game for long-distance travel.

We are watching the “charging gap” between EVs and petrol cars disappear in real-time. With the first sites already live in France (Maison-Dieu and Sorgues) and Germany (Werne) coming next, the “Autoroute du Soleil” just got a lot faster.

In 2026, IONITY has officially deployed the Alpitronic HYC1000—a beast of a system that delivers a staggering 1 Megawatt of total power.

👥 Efficiency for All: One central “Power Cabinet” can manage 8 vehicles at once, intelligently sharing that 1,000kW of power so nobody is left in the slow lane.

What are the 2   main benefits?

Note: BEVs with 800v architectures are best at accepting Ultra Rapid Charging.
  1. 🚀 Lightning Fast: Compatible EVs can now add 300 km (186 miles) of range in under 8 minutes. That’s literally the time it takes to grab a double espresso.
  2. 🔋 More Power: While “ultra-fast” used to mean 350kW, these new dispensers can pump out up to 600kW to a single vehicle.

For those long Business days or Family Road Trips your cars refueling time will almost certainly be shorter that yours, meaning last advantage of ICE cars will soon be disappearing.
