Xpeng G9: Stockholm to Gibraltar Road Trip Pt3 – Germany

2024 Road Trip
Day 2
Kiel to Karslruhe 749km,almost double the distance for Day 1.
It took 9 hours, with 4 charging stops (as we wanted the battery full for the next day) & cost 108 euros.
The temperature was 7c-15c dry.
How Did It Go?
So the plan was to drive the Xpeng G9 Performance a steady 125kmph expecting about 380km range on the autobahn.
Well that lasted until we got to the 1st unlimited speed section of the autobahn 🙂 The car wants to go and being so quiet and comfortable we were soon cruising at 140, 150 and 160 kmph!
At one stage was 185kmph and I am sure that 200+kmph would be not problem.
Expecting the range to drop like a stone we kept an eye on the remaining range at destination. But it flattened out at around 320km total range.
So new standard autobahn speed became 150-160kmph. Eating the kilometers and enjoying the ride, the Xpeng G9 Performance exceeded our expectations!
Heading into the German car makers territory, they must up their game to stand any chance against the far east competition like the Xpeng G9 Performance!
At times the autobahns were really busy, but this was  the  best time to  use the G9s Lane Centre Control & Automatic Cruise Control.
Both together these provided effortless cruising in traffic keeping us centered and the right distance from the car in front. With over 750kmtravelled this really takes away the tiring, boring driving.
Using Ionity Chargers , each session was very quick and functioned just as it should with no hassle. Generally, The car was ready before we had had a drink and something to eat.
Another great feature of the Xpeng G9 Performance is the infotainment screen for the passenger. It cannot be seen by the driver but contains the ability to use Apps e.g. You Tube, Prime Video and control all the comfort settings..
We used the You Tube App to listen to Spanish lessons – a really good use of the time on the motorway. As it was conversation based, there was no need for the driver to see the screen.
Day 2 Summary:
This car can “eat the kilometers”, it just loves to go.
No issues with charging, continues to be very fast stops (20-30 mins max.)
Navigation system was great with good timely instructions
Passenger infotainment screen was really handy for taking Spanish lessons on route.
