Deepal was originally established in 2018 as Changan New Energy Automobile Technology. In 2022, Changan launched the Changan Shenlan brand for its new energy vehicles, with the first model (SL03) introduced that year. In 2023, the English name of the brand was revealed as Deepal, and Changan New Energy Automobile Technology was renamed Deepal Automobile Technology. Deepal operates as an independent brand under the Changan Auto Group, focusing on electric vehicles.
