HiPhi X
1. Body Style and Size Segment
The HiPhi X is a 5-door, 6-seater (or 4-seater) SUV. It falls into the large SUV segment with dimensions of 5200mm (L) x 2062mm (W) x 1618mm (H) and a wheelbase of 3150mm. Its distinctive NT (No Touch) doors, featuring a gullwing-style upper portion for the rear, enhance its futuristic design.
2. Platform Architecture, Range & Efficiency
Built on HiPhi’s V-Platform, the HiPhi X features a 97 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) battery. It offers a WLTP range of approximately 460 km (up to 630 km CLTC). Dual motors provide all-wheel drive, producing 440 kW (598 hp) and enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds.
3. Technical Capabilities
The HiPhi X boasts extensive technical features, including a sophisticated driver assistance system (HiPhi Pilot ADAS) with 24 sensors, 7 cameras, radar, and high-precision mapping, supporting Level 3 and potential Level 4 autonomous driving. It also features Programmable Matrix Lighting (PML) 2.0 capable of projecting graphics.
4. Interior Quality and Storage Capacity
The interior is luxurious, with high-quality materials, large screens, and features like heated, ventilated, and massaging seats. Storage includes a 1.0 ft³ frunk. Rear cargo space is limited due to features like an integrated refrigerator; the 6-seat version has 204 liters, while the 4-seat version offers 317 liters.
5. App Functionality
The HiPhi app provides remote control over various vehicle functions, including locking/unlocking the NT doors via smartphone ID. The vehicle’s “Human Oriented Architecture” (HOA) with its 5G-V2X network is designed for over-the-air updates and new app development, enhancing the user experience.
6. Pros and Cons
Pros: Innovative design with unique doors, luxurious and tech-rich interior, strong performance. Cons: Limited practical boot space, high price point, refinement not always matching established European rivals.
7. Overall Summary
The 2024 HiPhi X distinguishes itself with a bold, futuristic design and an abundance of advanced technology. While it offers impressive performance and a highly luxurious cabin, its practicality and refinement might trail some established competitors like the Tesla Model X or BMW iX, which offer more conventional utility alongside their electric capabilities.
