This Weeks BEV Topic – EVs Will Overtake Fossil Fueled Vehicles
Looking at SE Point’s data, it’s clear that humans are pioneers in efficiency. We’ve consistently adopted the most innovative strategies to meet our daily needs.
Imagine returning to the days of oil lamps, wood-burning stoves, and coal-fired furnaces. While there might be a handful of niche applications where fossil fuels still have an edge, for the vast majority of us, the benefits of clean energy are undeniable.
The history of energy consumption shows a clear trend towards cleaner, more sustainable solutions. If we look at the way we’ve changed our approaches to lighting, cooking, electricity, and heating, it’s easy to see that transportation is headed in the same direction.
It’s human nature to be resistant to change. People may argue that the current way of doing things is the best and that there’s no need to invest in new, unproven technologies. But history has shown that progress often comes from challenging the status quo and embracing innovation.
Companies that built their fortunes on fossil fuels are understandably resistant to change. They want to continue with business as usual, but history has shown that clinging to outdated models can be disastrous. Consider the examples of Kodak, Nokia, and coal mining companies. They failed to adapt and ultimately faced extinction.
The future of transportation lies in electric vehicles. As EVs become more affordable and convenient, it’s easy to see why they’ll become the norm. Imagine the freedom of charging your car at home, work, or even while shopping. It’s a far cry from the hassle of stopping at gas stations.
The charging infrastructure is growing rapidly in many countries. In just a few years, reliable charging stations will be as commonplace as gas stations are today, making it even easier to switch to electric vehicles.
It’s time to reevaluate our energy choices. Fossil fuels are causing environmental problems, driving up costs, and limiting our convenience and control. Electric solutions offer a more sustainable, affordable, and flexible way to power our lives.
Like it or Not, History Shows Us That EVs WILL Overtake Fossil Fueled Vehicles
BEV News…. Will The 2025 Tesla Model Y Improvements be Enough?
The Model Y is Tesla’s biggest selling model, but in 2024 the competition has caught up and in some cases surpassed the Tesla.
In 2025 it is expected several improvements over the current model, but will this be enough to keep sales high?
Some of the features may include*;
Design and Exterior:
- Sleeker aerodynamics: A more streamlined body shape will reduce drag, leading to increased range and better performance at high speeds.
- Revised front fascia: A more aggressive and modern look with sharper lines and a lower profile.
- Upgraded headlights: LED matrix headlights for improved nighttime visibility and a futuristic appearance.
- New color options: A wider range of colors to suit different preferences.
- Is this enough? In many countries, there are so many Tesla’s that people want something different to their neighbor.
Interior:
- Higher-quality materials: Improved materials for seats and trim, creating a more luxurious and upscale feel.
- Updated infotainment system: A faster and more responsive infotainment system with new features and capabilities.
- Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving: Continued advancements in Tesla’s autonomous driving technology, potentially including new features and improved performance.
- Is this enough? Tesla has always gone for the simple style with comfort and convenience sometimes being forgotten.
- Improved battery technology: A larger battery pack or more efficient cells could lead to a significant increase in range.
- Faster charging capabilities: Support for ultra-fast charging, allowing for quicker charging times at Tesla’s Supercharger network.
- Enhanced performance: Potentially improved acceleration and handling.
- Is this enough? Tesla has a fantastic charging network. But based on the 400v architecture, the charging curve is less than impressive with max charging speed at 10% and then rapidly falling away.
Other Features:
- New optional features: Additional features and customization options may be available, such as different wheel styles or interior packages.
- Price adjustments: The pricing of the 2025 Model Y may be adjusted based on factors like market conditions and the level of improvements.
- Is this enough? 1st Price Adjustments is great for new customers but for those already owning one, it can be a big financial worry. 2nd Optional Features. Hard to see that these can be better than the competition.
So overall, it is a tough challenge for Tesla to get this right. Lets see what happens!
* Tesla is known for introducing new features and technologies regularly, so there’s always a possibility of additional surprises.
