The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA electric represents a significant leap forward in the company’s EV strategy, showcasing advanced technology and a focus on efficiency.
So, has Mercedes finally made a technically top class Battery Electric Vehicle?
Well certainly we can say that in the Battery and Range department they get good marks “for effort”, bringing them more in line with the best of the competition.
Whilst the Real Life Range at 70mph/112kmh in perfect conditions is 500 km / 311 mi is not exactly staggering, it is a step in the right direction.
Moving to an 800v platform means a much faster charging experience, with a peak of around 280kw and averages of

Here’s a breakdown of its key technical aspects:
* Platform and Powertrain:
* The new CLA is built on Mercedes-Benz’s Modular Architecture for Compact and Medium-sized cars (MMA) platform, specifically designed for electric and electrified vehicles.
* It will launch models including rear-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
* Battery Technology and Range:
* The vehicle utilizes high-energy-density battery cells, contributing to its extended range.
* The vehicle uses a 85 kwh NMC battery.
* Charging Speed:
* An 800V electrical architecture enables rapid DC fast charging, significantly reducing charging times.
* Mercedes claims very high DC fast charging speeds, with the capability of up to 320 kW.
* This allows for the addition of up to 325km of range in 10 minutes.
* Efficiency and Aerodynamics:
* Mercedes-Benz has prioritized aerodynamic efficiency, achieving a very low drag coefficient 0,21.
* The vehicle utilizes an energy efficient heat pump.
* Technology and Software:
* The 2025 CLA incorporates the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, featuring advanced AI capabilities.
* The software is designed to provide a very personalized user experience.
