Brief History:

MG, originally a British marque established in 1924, went through several ownership changes and faced financial difficulties, leading to the collapse of MG Rover Group in 2005. Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) acquired the brand, and later, in 2007, NAC merged with SAIC Motor, bringing MG under SAIC’s control.

More recently, SAIC launched “IM Motors” (Intelligence in Motion) in 2020 as a luxury EV brand, which is now being introduced to international markets under the “MG IM” banner, leveraging the established MG brand name.
